Budesonide (Pulmicort) and saline sinus irrigation contain an anti-inflammatory steroid medication that can be used to decrease nasal and sinus inflammation. It is dispensed in liquid form in a vial. Although it is manufactured for use with a nebulizer, we intend for you to use it with the SinuMed Sinus Cleansing System or a comparable sinus rinse system.
At Nevada Sinus Relief, we offer this treatment to help you start breathing better and clear up your sinuses. If you’re interested in Budesonide and saline sinus irrigation, give us a call at 702-805-1550 to schedule an appointment, learn more about it, or see if it is right for you.
How To Use Budesonide
Budesonide is used as a nasal rinse to clear the sinuses and nasal cavities. It can help provide relief from sinus infections, common colds, the flu, and many more different illnesses.
Using budesonide is an effective way to reduce side effects that may come with oral steroids. Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to use and apply budesonide:
- Make 240cc of saline solution in the SinuMed bottle using distilled, bottled, filtered, or previously boiled (and cooled) water and the powder packets in the kit. DO NOT use water directly from the faucet. Water should be lukewarm.
- Bend slightly over a sink to allow the rinse to come out of the opposite nostril.
- Keep your mouth open and breathe through your mouth. Press the button on the bottom of the bottle to actuate the irrigation. Use approximately half of the solution on the first side then repeat for the other nostril.
- Clean the bottle using a small amount of dishwashing liquid or baby shampoo and water. Ensure all components are clean including the nozzle, spout, and cap. Use a towel to wipe excess water and allow it to air dry prior to each use.
What Budesonide Nasal Rinse Side Effects?
There are a few side effects that come with budesonide. These side effects can include nose bleeds, nose passage irritation, temporary loss of smell, as well as a sore throat.
You may also experience swollen glands in the neck, body, and chest aches and pains, coughing, running nose, and shortness of breath. While these side effects may occur, they are typically less common. Generally speaking, budesonide sinus irrigation is safe and does not have any major or fatal side effects. When used properly and instructions are followed, this treatment is very safe.
