In-House CT Scan in Las Vegas

At our Las Vegas practice, Dr. Ashley Sikand offers patients the convenience of an in-house CT (computed tomography) scan instead of going to an outside radiology facility.

A sinus computed tomography, or CT, scan, is a minimally invasive diagnostic test in which images of the sinus cavities, similar to X-rays, are created. A sinus CT scan can help diagnose sinusitis and problems that can cause nasal congestion such as turbinate hypertrophy or a deviated nasal septum.

The Xoran MiniCAT© scanner is a compact machine with an open design and a low radiation dose. The scan takes 20-40 seconds to complete and immediately provides high quality images. These images are also compatible with the image guidance system we use during sinus surgery.

Dr. Sikand interprets the CT results and is able to develop a unique, personalized approach to resolving sinus problems before you leave the office.

Reasons for a CT Scan

A CT scan of the sinuses may help to locate, examine or diagnose various conditions, including:

  • Sinusitis
  • Epistaxis, or repeated nosebleeds
  • Injury to the facial area near the sinuses
  • Nasal or sinus polyps
  • Tumors of the sinuses

The results of the sinus CT scan may help to determine an effective course of treatment for the condition being investigated, possibly including surgery.
