How To Use NeilMed Sinus Rinse

Use of saline to wash or lavage the sinuses is of significant benefit to patients with sinus problems. We, at Nevada Sinus Relief, recommend use of hypertonic buffered saline available over the counter as Neil Med Sinus Rinse.  The solution gently removes excess or viscous mucus, pollen and other irritants that can cause allergies and swelling of the mucous membranes of the nose and sinuses. It is of particular benefit after a sinus procedure such as balloon sinus dilation or endoscopic sinus surgery. The purpose of sinus surgery is to re-establish the opening of the sinuses to restore normal drainage and ventilation. Therefor, these procedures allow for the saline solution to enter previously blocked sinuses and wash out infection, allergic mucus, etc. We recommend rinsing at least 4-5 times a day after sinus surgery and at least daily as maintenance. Nevada Sinus Relief recommends sterilizing the bottle (without the black tip) in a microwave for 30 seconds prior to each use (This has been patient tested and the bottle didn’t melt!)

Sometimes medications such as antibiotics or steroids preparations are added to the saline rinses. Nevada Sinus Relief works with compounding pharmacies to customize this type of treatment, usually used after a procedure has opened obstructed sinuses.
